"CWQ"s

The mini-quizzes you have been taking in class are labeled as "CWQ" (Classwork Quiz) in Thinkwave.  They count as classwork, not a quiz.

You are only exempt from these if you are legally absent n the day given.  If you are not, you are required to make up any you missed no later than 2 school days after it was given in class.  Same before-school times apply to these make-ups as all others.

If you were legally absent any day on a given week, please check Thinkwave to be sure I have not accidentally given you a 0 for a CWQ.  You must EMAIL ME with the DAY YOU WERE ABSENT so I can verify & correct Thinkwave, as necessary.  This needs to be done by the Friday night of that same week.

Any questions, please see me before or after class.

ENDURING ISSUES EXAM REMINDER...

Thinkwave has been updated for the 3rd marking period to reflect your DOUBLE TEST GRADE for the Enduring Issues FILL IN test this coming Monday.  It is entered TWICE for this reason.  That is not a mistake.  Remember, it looks just like below.  What you see is for ONE Enduring Issue.  This is repeated TEN TIMES on your test.  You have one class period.  You have studied AT LEAST TEN DIFFERENT ISSUES or you have not.  Each section is worth 10 points.  There is NO PARTIAL CREDIT.  It's all filled in, correctly, sufficiently, or it is -10 for that Enduring Issue.

You examples may repeat in different EI's if they apply, but you cannot repeat any EI's.  See the original post for more details.

Enduring Issues Exam
Fill out the outline below.  You need to use 10 different Enduring Issues (E.I.), but you may have examples that can be used for more than one E.I.  This is all or nothing – you answer everything correctly/fully for each E.I or the entire question is wrong.

I.               E.I.: ______________________________________________________

a.    Definition: ________________________________________________________

_________________________________________________________________

                                          i.    Example #1: _________________________________________________

1.    Defend this example: ____________________________________

                                       iii.    Example #3: _________________________________________________

Updates for Monday, 1/14

I'll be back tomorrow.  Please read all below carefully:

1.  All HWQs I missed will be done tomorrow.  This includes any notes due tomorrow.

2.  I am extending the grade challenges through Wednesday, 1/16.  Once 7:15 AM rolls around on that day, nothing else will be entertained.  Same rules & format applies to this week as I posted last week.  Remember, it is YOUR job to prove you did the work, not mine to look for it.  If you don;t have the paper, etc to prove you did it, the grade will not be changed.  Also keep in mind that some people do things like turn Vocab before they make up a quiz then never make it up, or missed the deadline but  allowed the vocab work to be turned in for credit despite missing the deadline.  turning in one assignment due on the same day as a "missing assignment is in no way proof that you did the missing assignment.  This allows for the 3 days I missed that fell under the original deadline.

3.  Any HWQ make-ups from last week have a new deadline of Tuesday, 1/14.  There were no make-ups for other work after last Tuesday, all deadlines had expired at 7:15 on 1/8/19.

4.  Your work for this week remains unchanged.  All HW, quizzes, & exams will be given as originally posted.

5.  Any HW you had to turn in while I was absent is due tomorrow at the start of class.  This includes any handouts I gave you 1/2-1/8/19 that had a Wednesday or later due last week.

6.  As a reminder, HW will count for the 2nd MP all this week.  The are no make-up dates for HW after this Friday for the 2nd MP.  Both upcoming Vocab quizzes & Exams will count for the THIRD MP, same with the vocab that goes with those quizzes.  As such, your work for the next week will overlap between the 2nd & 3rd MPs.

My lungs are back up to 90% so let's hope I don't relapse again any time this week.  I'm on very restricted activity so may have to stay at the desk for much of the week rather than walk around or stand in front of the room.  Me sitting for the week will not impact our learning for the week, but me relapsing most definitely will so let's try this out for the next few days.  Regents Week is not a very physically demanding week, so the hope is if I can continue to recover this week & next week with limited activity, I should be much better when you return on the 28th.  Fingers crossed, because this not being able to breathe nonsense is for the birds.

Have a good night.  Be ready to plow through some work with the time we have before your exam this week.

Make-Up Deadline Reminders...

Just a reminder:

Deadlines for all works (HW, quizzes, exams, etc.) have ALWAYS been stated in the same post as the assignment.  It is YOUR responsibility to now when the dates/deadlines are if you are legally absent for an assignment.  If you fail to make up the work by the posted deadline, you have essentially opted to receive a zero for that assignment.  Deadlines are in place for a variety of reasons, one of them being so your classmates can have their work back in a timely fashion.

The make-up policy is in all the paperwork you received when you started the school year and is also posted on this website.

Bottom line:
Be in class for all assignments if you can't make-up the work by the posted deadline (you always have advance notice.)  Otherwise, be prepared to have a 0 entered for that work in Thinkwave.

TEST: 1/28: Enduring Issues

I am giving you a test on the list of Enduring Issues we have been creating all year.

You will need to do the following FROM MEMORY:
1.  Identify TEN Enduring Issues and for EACH
            a.  Give a definition of the Enduring Issue
            b.  Identify THREE examples of the E.I AND explain how EACH is an example of that E.I.
That EIGHT parts for each of the 10 issues: Name it, define it, give 3 examples, state how each is an example of the issue.

This is a writing test.  No notes, no textbook, no help whatsoever.
You have learned them or you have not.
There is NO QUIZLET for this.
You have lists, notes, handouts, documents....

Topics to Consider when "memorizing" your Enduring Issues & looking for examples to support them (these are broad, there may be sub-topics to consider as well):
Scientific Revolution
The Enlightenment
French Revolution
Latin American Revolutions
Imperialism
Irish Potato Famine
Unification Movements
Industrial Revolution
Agrarian Revolution
World War I
Absolutism
and any topic you remember from Global I...you can use that, too!

"Grade Challenges"

Please note that most of your work has been given back, the exceptions being anything that was turned in late, was a make-up, or was due last week.  All work has been entered in Thinkwave as of this post EXCEPT the Vocab Quiz & Exam from last week.

If you feel there is a discrepancy or a grade is missing/wrong, you must bring that assignment to me before 1st period any day this week.  The deadline is Friday, 1/11.  No  requests will be entertained after that date.

This does not apply to items you did not make-up by the posted deadline!  Those grades remain as is.

FOR EXAMPLE:
If you think you took the Chapter 25 Vocab quiz but there's a 0 in Thinkwave for it, bring me the graded quiz you got back.  This is the only acceptable proof that you did, indeed take or make-up the quiz.

Once again...
no emails will be used for this as you need to provide proof as stated above that you took/turned in the assignment for the grade you are questioning.

A Reminder about postings...

Happy New Year!

As a reminder, your work due in January was posted in December, so it will still be listed in December.  It will NOT show up under the January menu.  Please keep this in mind as you look for what's do if you don't start it in advance.  I always post early to give you plenty of time to get the work done at your own pace, but this means that you may need to click on the previous month to see the posting.

I hope you had a restful vacation.  See you in a few days.
