Unannounced Enduring Issues Quizzes starting this week

You will start having quizzes on Enduring Issues starting this week.

You will be given an enduring issue & you must define it, list 3 examples of it, and be able to explain one of those examples & how the enduring issue applies to it.

No one is exempt from these, and they are unannounced.  If you are absent & miss one, you are responsible to come before school the next day to do it or receive a zero.  As always, you have until 7:15 m to come to 1823 to complete this.  If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out from someone if you missed one of these quizzes.

Absent Today?

Regents Review books were handed t today in class.  If you were absent, you can come to 1823 by 7:15 am any day this week to sign for yours.  On Friday, 1/31, all extras will be returned to the Dept Office.  You will not get a book from me once this happens.

DUE 1/28: Signed Thinkwave Printout

Thinkwave printouts will be handed out in class on Monday, 1/27.  These are required to be signed, regardless of average, by a parent and returned by the start of class on Tuesday, 1/28.  If you are absent on Monday, you are required to print out the report yourself & have a parent sign it.  there will be no exceptions made for not having this assignment turned in on time.

This will b a test grade, as always.
Turned in at the start on your class period on 1/28: 100
Turned in on 1/29: 65
Turned in after 1/29: 0

This counts for the 3rd marking period, as does all work due starting this Monday.  With the exception of tests due back from Resource by Monday or make-up exams Monday morning, your 2nd MP grades are finalized in Thinkwave.

Don't like your grade?  Change your ways.  YOU control your grades.  I simply report the work you turn in (or fail to turn in, or fail to turn in by the deadline.)

Stimulus TEST 2/3: Chapter 27

Your Chapter 27 Stimulus-Based Question Exam will be on Monday, 2/3.  This exam will be stimulus-based, which means it will only have he new style Regents questions that use documents but rely on content knowledge.  The Quizlet Review has been open since 1/6.  If you have been in class, paid attention, done your homework, and study you should do very well on the test.  STUDY THE REVIEW IN QUIZLET - it will help you with the content you need to answer stimulus-based questions.  Remember, all previous chapters are fair game to show up on your exam so be sure to review those topics in Quizlet, too!

Your Chapter 27 Video AND Cartoon packets are BOTH due on this day.

Make up for legal absences is before school (per my make-up policy), last day to make up is Tuesday, 2/4.    Failure to make-up the exam will result in a zero for that test.  Cuts & illegal absences cannot be made up, and anyone late to class will not receive extra time on the exam.  Make-up period ends at 7:15 AM.  To have the same amount of time for the test as was offered in lass, you must arrive to 1823 by 6:45 AM.  You can arrive after that time, but your time ends at 7:15 AM.

If you can't come before school to make up the exam don't be absent for it!

Taking a Regents? Remember...

Copied from the State Education Website:

Student Use of Communications Devices

All students are prohibited from bringing cell phones and certain other electronic devices, as defined in the script below, into a classroom or other location where a State examination is being administered. Test proctors, test monitors, and school officials shall retain the right to collect and hold any prohibited electronic devices prior to the start of the test administration.

Admission to the test shall be denied to any student who is in possession of a cell phone or other prohibited electronic device and refuses to relinquish it.

You cannot have any communications device, including a cell phone, with you during this examination or during any breaks (such as a restroom visit). Such devices include, but are not limited to: • Cell phones • iPods and MP3 players • iPads, tablets, and other eReaders • Personal laptops, notebooks, or any other computing devices • Cameras or other photographic equipment • Wearable devices/smart wearables, including smart watches and health wearables with a display • Headphones, headsets, or in-ear headphones such as earbuds, and • Any other device capable of recording audio, photographic or video content, or capable of viewing or playing back such content. You may not keep your cell phone or any of these items with you, or near you, including in your pockets, backpack, desk, etc. If you keep a cell phone or any of these items with you, your examination will be invalidated and you will get no score.

Any student observed with any prohibited device while taking a State examination must be directed to turn it over to the proctor or monitor immediately. To allow for all possible outcomes of procedural due process, the student should be allowed to complete the examination. The incident must be reported promptly to the school principal. If the principal determines that the student had a prohibited device in his or her possession during the test administration, the student’s test must be invalidated. No score may be calculated for that student. The incident must be promptly reported, in writing, to the Office of State Assessment.

Because some of you have asked

Some of you have asked if I'm OK because my eyes are red or swollen so I thought it best to just address it here.

I was diagnosed last week with something called atopic dermatitis.

It is not contagious at all .

My eyes are always going to look red, swollen, dry, &/or flaky.
So are the corners of my mouth.
Just below my neck & inside elbow have a rash, it will looks sore, & it is constantly itchy.
It's also inside my ears, which are now also always wet from fluid.  You may see me with a q-tip when they feel extra wet & itchy.

It will never go away & it will never get better.

Thank you to those of you who have asked if I'm OK, it's very special to me that you took the time to do that.

See you tomorrow...

A reminder about postings...

Happy New Year!

As a reminder, your work due in January 2020 was posted in December 2019, so it will still be listed in December.  It will NOT show up under the January menu.  Please keep this in mind as you look for what's due if you don't start it in advance.  I always post early to give you plenty of time to get the work done at your own pace, but this means that you may need to click on the previous month to see the posting.

I hope you had a restful vacation.  See you in a few days.
