1. Today's HWQ (30/1) will be tomorrow after your vocab quiz.
3. Ch 29 HWQ make-ups require you taking the actual quiz, not just checking notes. You have tomorrow & Thursday at the time stated in the original due date post. You will not take the same quiz as your class period.
4. Exam remains Friday.
5. Thinkwave is updated. Take a look how NOT having a sheet sign &/or NOT doing your HW has already impacted your 3rd MP average.

NYS Clause Requiring You to Pass BOTH the Course AND Regents Exam in order to Graduate
From the New York State Dept of education, for anyone who thinks he/she does not have to pass a course to graduate. This is proof from the State that you cannot simply pass a regents Exam to get credit for a course & graduate. Failed the class? G to summer school. You have been warned ALL. YEAR. LONG.
http://www.p12.nysed.gov/assessment/sam/secondary/section6-15.pdf
SECTION SIX
AWARDING OF CREDIT AND ISSUANCE OF REGENTS DIPLOMAS
Awarding of Credit for Courses of Study:A course of study involves class attendance, homework assignments, quizzes, tests, and other instructional activities. In many instances it also involves the taking of a State exam at the end of the course. When deciding whether a student who is enrolled in a course of study has satisfactorily completed the course and is entitled to credit for such course, the teacher should evaluate the student’s performance on all these activities. In accordance with Section 100.5(a)(5)(v) of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education (http://www.p12.nysed.gov/part100/home.html), passing the Regents Exam in a subject shall not be construed as having earned a unit of credit in that subject unless the student also passes the course as offered in a registered high school or meets the requirements for credit by exam. (See section below, Students Not Enrolled in Courses of Study.)
January Regents Exam
The DBQ was insane on Wednesdays exam. Not only were the documents long & the questions challenging, but the essay topic itself was on scarcity. Specifically, you had to discuss 2 of the following: impact of scarcity of water on Middle Eastern politics, scarcity of raw materials influencing Japanese foreign policy in the late 1800s to mid-1900s, and scarcity of resources for the Incas.
The multiple choice had longer readings than normal & several questions per reading, in graduated difficulty. This is what we think we will see in June.
If you weren't worried enough to d your work before the 3rd MP, it just might be able to pull of the Regents. If you wait even one more week, it's over. The only good thing is they won't be asking the Incas in June. But remember I told you last week about how they like Japan & it shows up in the essays a lot...and there it was.
You should listen to me. I know what I'm talking about...

Tuesday's HW
Anyone that was legally absent Tuesday & waited until today for make-ups, let this be a lesson about making work up at the last minute.
If there is a delayed opening tomorrow, there will be no make-ups. I will allow them before 7:15 am on Monday if that happens. However, if there is a REGULAR opening tomorrow, you have until 7:15 tomorrow to make up the work. I anticipate being there by 7 am if it is a regular day as opposed to my regular 6:40 am. Please plan accordingly.
